About
Collection Management, Publishing, and Exchanging Information
This session will provide an overview with examples focused on basic collections management principles, core concepts, and important data standards. Among others, two standards will receive demonstrations. First, LIDO (Light Information Describing Objects), which acts as a schema for delivering metadata about cultural objects for use in collection databases, and also for sharing across the web in various resources. Second, EODEM (Exhibition Object Data Exchange Model), which is a framework that enables museum databases to export objects from one system and import into another, for the purposes of tracking exhibitions and loans.
