Documentation 101: Principles and Global examples Session A: This session will introduce our audience to the core activities of ICOM DOCUMENTATION (formerly CIDOC). Across three presentations, we will introduce guiding principles for documenting collections across the span of museums and museum archives; we’ll provide an overview of the global standards we support and recommend, their importance and scope; we will discuss our ongoing project to define what “museum documentation” means for our broad community, in a changing museum and technological environment; and we will also discuss precise examples of museum documentation principles and systems at a national level, and how those are utilized.
